One of the best hostels in Cairns, if not the best! Everything is clean, well thought out, and well organized! The shared kitchen is very spacious, there’s a cold room for everyone, and a laundry area. It’s perfect!!

Great stay at the center of the city in Cairns. The cairns esplanade and the lagoon are right outside the hostel. The receptionist stayed up for us as our incoming flight was delayed until midnight. The kitchen on the 4th floor has HUGE , clean and it was fun to cook there with the views of the Ferris wheel and the sea. Cool breeze came in the evenings & it was breakfast with a view in the morning. We got a 4 person en suite room (with an attached bath) which was nice as we had our own bathroom. We were a couple and the room was occupied one more a man from Spain - who was insensitive to occupy the entire room with his belongings - looked like he stayed there long term with all his suitcases , bags and uber / Didi food delivery bags, shoes & sandals taking up the space. The marina was walkable during our trip out to the Great Barrier Reef. Plenty of restaurants nearby

Friendly, flexible staff who are easy to talk to. Very clean rooms and shared areas, plus a fully equipped industrial kitchen with great views to the Lagoon. Excellent location: next to Woolworths and McDonald’s, a common tour pickup point, and a 5-minute walk to The pier for Fitzroy/Green Island and water tours. Kmart, Target, Chemist Warehouse, a shopping center, and bus stops are all within 5–10 minutes. The Night Market is next door for late-night food, massages, and souvenirs. The hotel offers food/drinks discounts, so during happy hour next door you can get a $14 beer jug.

Wow! This place is wonderful. From the second we entered Michelle and the team treated us with kindness and respect not often found these days. Being in our 70s we were concerned about staying at a Backpackers but should not have been. We have a queen room with balcony which overlooks the Cairns lagoon across the road. It is clean and very comfortable bed with lovely pillows. Only drawback is drying/hanging space, we went to KMart and purchased a $6 airer which fixed that. Great discounts at local eateries. The 4th floor has a lounge/kitchen/balcony overlooking the Coral Sea which if only the users would be a little more responsible, would stay clean, as the cleaners scrub twice a day. Location is awesome. We have stayed at much worse 5* properties. So glad we found Global Backpackers hostel.

Great location. The staff was very helpful in booking tours and giving recommendations of restaurants in the local area. I stayed in a 4-bedroom room so it was nice. The place was kept very clean. The kitchen and common areas were nice. From the balcony there were very nice views of the ocean.
